This award acknowledges that it’s not just those who work directly with the children who play a significant part in Banana Moon and the Moon Crew. This person will not only cook exceptional food but will also showcase their culinary skills to the EYSOs during visits, ensuring the kitchen is well-maintained, with a food hygiene rating of 5.

They will take time to create menus that reflect the cultures of the children attending the nursery or out of school club, making sure the meals are varied, nutritious, balanced and healthy. The role goes beyond just cooking – the winner will provide recipes for families, interact and learn with the children and ensure that menus are cost-effective. Understanding that food is not just food, but a key part of health and nutrition, is crucial. They will be hands-on in the kitchen while also actively engaging in other areas of nursery and/or Moon Crew life.
